June 15, 2026 – Bosch Achieves First UL 2680 Certification for PIR Sensor
Bosch Security Systems has announced that its BlueLine AI PIR motion sensor is the first device to receive certification under UL 2680, the new safety standard for occupancy sensors used in life safety applications.
UL 2680, published in April 2026, addresses reliability, false alarm immunity, and fail-safe operation. The BlueLine AI passed all required tests, including detection reliability across temperature ranges (-20°C to +60°C), false alarm immunity from common sources (sunlight, HVAC, pets), and self-diagnostics.
“Achieving UL 2680 certification demonstrates our commitment to safety and reliability,” said a Bosch product manager. “Customers can now specify BlueLine AI with confidence for security systems, fire alarm integration, and healthcare monitoring.”
The BlueLine AI features AI-powered human/pet discrimination with 98% accuracy. The UL 2680 certification covers both wired and wireless variants of the sensor.
Bosch plans to begin shipping UL 2680 certified BlueLine AI sensors in August 2026. The company expects other manufacturers to seek certification in the coming months.
