Report: Average PIR Sensor Price Drops Below $0.40 as Chinese Production Scales

April 26, 2026 – New Price Milestone for PIR Sensors

According to component market intelligence firm SupplyFrame, the average selling price of basic PIR sensor modules (HC-SR501 and equivalents) has fallen below $0.40 for the first time, reaching $0.38 in April 2026.

This represents a 25% decline from $0.52 in early 2025, driven by massive production scale from Chinese manufacturers and process automation.

Annual production of PIR sensor modules is now estimated at over 1.5 billion units, with Chinese manufacturers accounting for approximately 65% of global supply.

Price trends by segment:

  • Basic modules (HC-SR501 clones): $0.38
  • Mid-range (AM312, HC-SR505): $0.75-1.20
  • Premium (Panasonic, Murata): $2-10
  • Automotive-grade: $4-8

SupplyFrame predicts prices will stabilize around $0.35-0.40 for basic modules as margins become too thin for further reductions.
