Excelitas Technologies has announced the start of volume production for the PYD 2597 Ultra-Low Power DigiPyro sensor, following successful sampling earlier this year. The sensor features supply voltages as low as 1.4V with current consumption of just 2µA at 1.8V.
The PYD 2597 is designed for battery-operated motion detection applications including IoT sensors, security systems, and energy-saving controls. It includes an integrated Motion Detection Unit with interrupt functionality and a one-wire digital interface.
“The PYD 2597 has generated significant interest from IoT device manufacturers,” said Hermann Karagoezoglu, Product Manager at Excelitas. “Volume production ensures we can meet the growing demand for ultra-low power PIR sensors.”
Initial customers include several smart home device manufacturers and automotive component suppliers. The sensor is available through Excelitas distribution channels at volume pricing of $4-6 per unit.
