June 23, 2026 – Waltham, MA – Excelitas Sees Strong Adoption of Ultra-Low Power Sensor
Excelitas Technologies has announced that orders for its PYD 2597 Ultra-Low Power DigiPyro sensor have increased 200% since its launch in January 2026, driven by demand for battery-powered IoT devices and energy-harvesting applications.
The PYD 2597 operates from 1.4V to 3.6V with just 2µA current consumption at 1.8V. Its integrated wake-up mode enables true zero-power standby for battery-operated devices.
“The market has been hungry for a sensor that can run for years on a coin cell battery,” said Hermann Karagoezoglu, Product Manager at Excelitas. “The PYD 2597 meets that need while maintaining high detection performance.”
Major customers include security system manufacturers, smart home device makers, and industrial IoT companies. The sensor is also being used in energy-harvesting applications where maintenance-free operation is critical.
Excelitas has ramped production capacity to meet demand, with volume production now at full capacity. Lead times for the PYD 2597 are currently 12-16 weeks, though Excelitas expects to reduce this to 8-10 weeks by Q4 2026.
