August 10, 2026 – Älmhult, Sweden – IKEA Expands VALLHORN Compatibility
IKEA has released a firmware update for the VALLHORN wireless motion sensor that adds native Apple HomeKit support via Matter. The update allows VALLHORN to work directly with Apple Home without requiring the DIRIGERA hub.
The update is available over-the-air through the IKEA Home smart app. Users can also pair the sensor directly to any Matter-compatible Thread border router, including Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini.
“We’re committed to making smart home technology accessible to everyone,” said an IKEA product manager. “Adding HomeKit support gives Apple users more choice.”
The VALLHORN features Zigbee 3.0, Thread, and Matter support, 10m detection range, and 2-year battery life. It retains its $14.99 price point, making it one of the most affordable HomeKit-compatible motion sensors on the market.
The update also includes improved pet immunity and adjustable sensitivity settings via the Apple Home app.
