Infineon Technologies has announced plans to acquire Pyreos, a UK-based startup specializing in pyroelectric sensors, for $120 million. The acquisition is expected to close in Q3 2026.
Pyreos develops thin-film pyroelectric sensors for automotive, industrial, and consumer applications. The company’s technology enables ultra-fast response times and high sensitivity in compact packages.
“The acquisition of Pyreos strengthens our sensor portfolio for automotive child presence detection,” said Andreas Urschitz, President of Infineon’s Sensor Division. “Their thin-film technology complements our existing offerings.”
Pyreos has 45 employees based in Edinburgh, Scotland. The company will operate as a subsidiary of Infineon following the acquisition.
The deal is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026.
