April 15, 2026 – Seoul, South Korea – Samsung Expands SmartThings Ecosystem
Samsung Electronics has announced the SmartThings Station Pro, a new smart home hub that integrates a PIR motion sensor for presence detection. The device combines hub functionality, Thread border router, and occupancy sensing in a single compact unit.
Key Features:
- Integrated PIR sensor: 8m range, 110° field of view
- Connectivity: Thread, Zigbee, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth LE
- Matter support: Certified as Thread border router
- SmartThings integration: Native occupancy automations
- Privacy features: Local processing, no cloud required for motion detection
- Price: $79.99
The integrated PIR sensor enables new automation scenarios directly from the hub: turn on lights when entering a room, adjust thermostat when room is occupied, activate security cameras when motion detected while away, and trigger notifications when children arrive home.
“By integrating PIR sensing directly into the hub, we eliminate the need for a separate motion sensor,” said Jaeyeon Jung, VP of SmartThings. “This reduces cost and simplifies setup for users.”
The SmartThings Station Pro is available for pre-order today, with shipments beginning June 15, 2026.
