Meross Launches Smart Presence Sensor with PIR and mmWave Dual Detection

March 25, 2026 – Meross Brings Dual-Technology Presence Sensing to Matter Ecosystem

Chengdu Meross Technology Co., Ltd. has introduced a Smart Presence Sensor that integrates low-power millimeter-wave Doppler radar technology with infrared motion sensors, creating a dual-detection sensor capable of recognizing biological activities, subtle movements, and presence status[citation:10].

The sensor is equipped with a light sensor that can detect changes in ambient brightness in real-time. Once a change in biological activity or ambient brightness is detected, the sensor promptly transmits the information to the Meross system or Matter platform[citation:10].

Product Details:

  • Firmware Version: 1.1.19
  • Hardware Version: 9.0
  • Certificate ID: CSA25952MAT47268-24
  • Certified Date: September 29, 2025
  • Specification Version: Matter 1.4
  • Transport Interface: Thread, Bluetooth
  • Primary Device Type ID: 0x0107 (Occupancy Sensor)

With the integration of Matter over Thread protocol, this device supports all major platforms, including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings[citation:10].

Unlike traditional PIR sensors that only detect motion, the dual-detection approach enables the sensor to detect stationary occupants (presence) through mmWave radar technology, which can detect micro-movements such as breathing. This makes it suitable for applications where occupants may be seated or sleeping.

The sensor represents a growing trend toward sensor fusion in the smart home industry, combining complementary technologies to overcome the limitations of single-sensor approaches.
