Panasonic to Demonstrate New PaPIRs+ Flat Sensor at Embedded World 2026

March 10, 2026 – Nuremberg, Germany – Panasonic to Demonstrate Next-Generation PIR Technology

Panasonic Industry announced today that it will showcase its new Flat Wide Detection Type PIR sensor, featuring PaPIRs+ technology, at Embedded World 2026 in Nuremberg, Germany, taking place March 10-12 at booth 4A-103[citation:6].

The sensor, which launched in January 2026, features 416 detection zones providing gap-free motion detection and twice the sensitivity of previous generations. It detects very small movements of not only moving but also sitting individuals across a large area, making it suitable for office environments, hotels, and public buildings[citation:6].

“The PIR sensor’s capabilities for tangential, radial and minor motion were extensively tested in Panasonic’s laboratories in Japan under standardized IEC63180 measurement and test norms,” the company stated. At Embedded World, attendees can learn more about the detailed test results and procedures[citation:6].

The Flat Wide Detection Type offers a sleek, discreet flat lens that integrates into aesthetically demanding applications. Its wide field of view of 136.4° × 135.4° maximizes coverage, reducing the number of sensors needed and simplifying installation[citation:5][citation:6].

Current consumption is available in four variants ranging from 1 µA to 170 µA, with output interfaces including digital (open-drain) and analog (op-amp). Lens color options include white, pearl white, and black[citation:5][citation:6].
