June 17, 2026 – Seoul, South Korea – Samsung Expands SmartThings Ecosystem

Samsung Electronics has announced the SmartThings Station Pro, a new smart home hub that integrates a PIR motion sensor for presence detection. The device combines hub functionality, Thread border router, and occupancy sensing in a single compact unit.

Key Features

  • Integrated PIR sensor: 8m range, 110° field of view
  • Connectivity: Thread, Zigbee, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth LE
  • Matter support: Certified as Thread border router
  • SmartThings integration: Native occupancy automations
  • Privacy features: Local processing, no cloud required for motion detection
  • Price: $79.99

New Automation Capabilities

The integrated PIR sensor enables new automation scenarios directly from the hub:

  • Turn on lights when entering a room
  • Adjust thermostat when room is occupied
  • Activate security cameras when motion detected while away
  • Trigger notifications when children arrive home

“By integrating PIR sensing directly into the hub, we eliminate the need for a separate motion sensor,” said Jaeyeon Jung, VP of SmartThings. “This reduces cost and simplifies setup for users.”

Availability

The SmartThings Station Pro is available for pre-order today, with shipments beginning July 15, 2026.
