The standard addresses reliability, false alarm immunity, and fail-safe operation.<\/p>\n<p>The standard applies to PIR sensors used in security systems, fire alarm systems (for occupant location), emergency lighting control, and healthcare monitoring.<\/p>\n<p>Key requirements include detection reliability testing across temperature ranges (-20\u00b0C to +60\u00b0C), false alarm immunity tests for common sources (sunlight, HVAC, pets), and fail-safe operation with self-diagnostics.<\/p>\n<p>Manufacturers have a 24-month transition period to certify products to UL 2680.
