[citation:6]<\/p>\n<p>Key new features in Matter 1.4 relevant to PIR sensors include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Occupancy Sensing Cluster Updates:<\/strong> Enhanced reporting and configuration options for occupancy detection<\/li>\n<li><strong>Intermittently Connected Devices (ICD) Support:<\/strong> Optimized for battery-powered sensors that wake periodically<\/li>\n<li><strong>Energy Management Improvements:<\/strong> EVSE enhancements for solar power, battery, heat pump, and water heater integration<\/li>\n<li><strong>Access Restriction Lists (ARLs):<\/strong> Improved security for sensor data access<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Matter 1.4 specification includes significant updates to occupancy sensing functionality, allowing PIR sensors to report not just binary occupancy status but also configurable sensitivity and hold time parameters. This enables more sophisticated automations based on room occupancy patterns.
